General Motors Company
General Motors is one of the oldest car manufacturers in the US. It was established in 1908 and has since set up 396 subsidiaries worldwide. So far, it is the largest full-line vehicle maker and marketer in the world. General Motors is known for top vehicle brands such as Chevrolet, GMC, Pontiac, Buick, Cadillac, Saab, Hummer, and Saturn. In America, it is currently the largest car manufacturer.
Toyota Motors USA
Toyota Motors Sales, U.S.A Inc. (TMS) was established in California in 1957 as a subsidiary of the mother Toyota Motors Company. Apart from being one of the leading automakers in the US, TMS is also a big player in the global car market. Its Torrance California headquarters controls 14 other regional offices. Some of its top brands include Lexus, Toyota, and Scion. In the US, TMS makes a number of car models. Take Sienna, Highlander, Sequoia, Venza, Tacoma, and Tundra. One of the reasons why TMS is one of the top car manufacturers in the US is its 1,500-strong dealerships. Other top models include the 4Runner, Land Cruiser, FJ Cruiser, and RAV4.
Ford Motor Company
Ford, as this company is known as a worldwide car manufacturer with its headquarters in Dearborn, Michigan. Its founder is the famous Henry Ford. Since it was established in 1903, the company has produced a number of great cars and commercial vehicles as well as luxury cars. So far, it has more than 70 subsidiaries worldwide. The cars and commercial vehicles are produced under the Ford brand while the luxury cars are made as part of the Lincoln brand. Of course, it also falls among the world’s biggest car manufacturers. However, its largest market is in the Northern American countries of U.S.A, Mexico, and Canada.
Fiat Chrysler LLC
In 2014, two major automakers merged to form Fiat Chrysler LLC. Fiat as a separate company came into existence in 1899 while Chrysler was established much later in 1925. The new company brought under its stable car brands from the two mother companies. They includes Fiat, Chrysler, Dodge, Alfa Romeo, Abarth, Lancia, SRT, Maserati, Mopar, and Jeep. The company does not, however, design and manufacture all of these vehicles. Its flagship brand include Dodge, Chrysler, Ram, Fiat, and Jeep. The rest are only part of its greater distribution business. In fact, the company is ranked the seventh largest car maker in the world.
In 1959 Honda Motor Company Ltd. established an American subsidiary. It named it American Honda Motor Company Inc. (AHMC) and picked Torrance, California as its headquarters. Apart from manufacturing some of its brands in the US, the company also engages in the distribution of Honda and Acura scooters, bikes, and cars. AHMC is a manufacturer of trucks, cars, scooters, bikes, SUVs, and planes. In North America alone, the company has 16 manufacturing plants and 14 design centers. Some of its car models include Civic, Accord, Element, CR-V, FCX Clarity, Pilot, and Odyssey.
Nissan North America, Inc. was established in 1958 as a way of distributing Datsun cars in the US. As a subsidiary of Nissan Motor Company Limited, it is currently involved in the manufacturing and selling of the Nissan branded cars in America. Its headquarters is in Franklin, Tennessee but maintains operations in Canada and Mexico as well. As one of the top car manufacturers in the US, it makes sedans, electric cars, hybrids, crossovers, SUVs, vans & minivans, trucks, and commercial vehicles. It has five production plants as well as subsidiaries in the entire U.S.A.
