Driving around in your car just doesn’t have that same feeling of when it was new. That fresh feeling is long gone and now it’s just your source of transportation to get from one place to the next. However, with these six helpful tricks below, you can make your car feel like brand new and be excited about jumping behind the wheel again.
1. Deep Clean It
We’re not just talking the old run of the mill, sweep the floors, clean the windows, and wipe off the dash, kind of cleaning. We’re talking about that few hour long, deep cleaning every inch of your car, kind of cleaning. If you’re not up for it, just take your car to a professional detailing shop.
If you don’t want to spend the money, you can do this at home. Shampoo the carpet, rugs, upholstery, and trunk. A handheld shampooer works great for this. Make sure that you get under the seats, the seat rests, and under the spare tire. It’s amazing how much different upholstery looks when it goes through a deep cleaning.
2. Upgrade Your Technology
If your car is over five years old, it’s time to upgrade its technology. Get that new stereo that has an outlet for your iPhone, iPod, and satellite radio. Invest in rear seat entertainment systems. Even install a new GPS navigation screen if you feel the need to. One of the biggest reasons that people look into buying a new car is for the upgraded technology.
3. Get Rid Of The Lens And Window Haze
All older cars get that white tint on the inside of the windows and the front headlight lenses. This is one of those things that really makes a car stand out as being ancient. You can make your car look years newer by simply removing this white haze.
A good way to do this is with white vinegar. Mix one part water with one part vinegar into a spray bottle and grab a microfiber cloth. Spray the mixture on the window where the haze is present and wipe the window in an S-like pattern. Be sure to avoid over-spray of the vinegar on other parts of your car’s interior. Move onto your lenses next. If you’re not sure how to access the inside of the lenses, be sure to refer to your owner’s manual for instruction.
4. Get A Paint Job
One way to certainly make your car look brand new is to have the paint job redone. This is much cheaper to do than to buy a new car and you get to pick the car color you want. Be sure to shop around at different places to find the lowest price you can for a quality paint job.
5. Clean Off The Interior
We are talking deep cleaning the dash, gauges, center console, and everything else less the upholstery. Using an old toothbrush or even q-tips will work great for those small little areas that you can’t get your finger or a cloth into. You can squeeze either of these tools in between your vents, buttons, knobs, and other seams.
6. Add Custom Features
According to Chrome Auto Emblems, spice up your car by adding custom features. Consider adding car decals or emblems so the car has a glimpse of your personality on it. These small features will make a big impact on your vehicle and serve as a conversation starter. You could display hobbies, pets, family, or even your favorite sporting team…the possibilities are endless.
By taking action and completing all six of these tips you can have your car feeling brand new in no time. It may even make you realize that your car isn’t so old after all.
