There’s nothing quite like a quick trip to the casino to reinvigorate your spirit. However, even if you are spending less than a day in your happy gambling place, there are a few essentials that will make your mini vacation much more pleasant. If you forget these important items, you do so at your own peril.
1. A Driver’s License or Passport
Remember, you can always be carded at a casino. Even if you are collecting Social Security, you will still need to provide identification if you win a healthy sum of money. Also, VIP players’ clubs often provide amazing perks—and you will need an ID card to become eligible for these perks.
2. Something Dressy
The movie Swingers shed light upon just how much appearance usually matters in places like Las Vegas. You may not necessarily want to drive out in fancy duds, but you will definitely want to make sure that you have some nice garments to wear. Even a small accessory such as a scarf or a colorful necklace can liven up your outfit and make you appear more fashionable.
3. A Jacket or Sweater
Even the casinos in the warmest locales are often kept very cold—to keep customers awake!—so don’t forget to bring something warm just in case it gets chilly. If you’d like, you can leave it in the trunk of your vehicle until you feel like it’s time to bundle up.
4. Comfortable Shoes
The charm of high heels and dress shoes will wear off after you’ve spent some time walking around the casino. After all, fashion won’t matter if your footwear renders you unable to move. If you have to wear fancy shoes for some of the time, then try to carry some comfy shoes in your bag. You will be happy that you made this decision.
5. Moisturizer or Sunscreen
With the air-conditioning vents blasting at full power, there’s nothing like a casino to dry out your skin. Take precautionary measures by packing some moisturizer to keep your skin looking its best. Of course, if you are in a sunny location, you will want to select a moisturizer that contains sunscreen ingredients to guard your skin. In places like Las Vegas or Southern California, you will be walking outside at some points. Protect your skin so that it looks refreshed when you return home from your adventure.
6. Antibacterial Hand Gel
Casinos are busy places and a lot of people tend to walk through and use the machines. Although one would hope that everyone is keeping clean and washing their hands, you have to assume that it is possible a casino machine or door handle might have some germs on it. The best way to protect yourself against these germs is to carry a small bottle of antibacterial gel that you can use after touching a surface that may have been compromised. When you’re in the middle of gambling, the last thing you want to do is drop everything and head to the bathroom to wash your hands. Antibacterial gel provides a safe and effective option so that you will remain in good health when you get back home.
7. A Pain Reliever
If you happen to drink too much at the casino—or you spend too much money!—you may find a headache coming on. In order to nip it in the bud, you will want to pop some aspirin or ibuprofen so that you stay in tip-top shape.
8. Another Bag
If you happen to pick up some souvenirs on your overnight jaunt, you will definitely want to store them in a safe place. Either leave some space in your overnight bag or bring along another bag so that you will have room for all of the fun trinkets and tokens you may pick up during your journey. After all, a trip doesn’t have to be long to be memorable!
